Daisy Chaining Firewire/USB 2.0 vs. Right In
Hey guys -
I have an Iogear 120G Firewire/USB2.0 external drive that I use for the audio drive on my laptop, and as a sample server on my desktop. The questions - 1) On the laptop, I only have one built in Firewire port, and have been running the drive off of a built in USB 2.0 port. For my sound card, I am using an M-Audio Firewire 1814 with M-Powered. The 1814 has a second firewire port on it - should I run the drive through there, or right into the machine through USB 2.0? 2) On my desktop, I have an Adaptec Fireconnect card (which I run 002R on), as well as built in USB 2.0 and the 2nd firewire port of the 002R. I've been running the drive off the Adaptec card. Do you think this is the right way to go? I haven't been having any problems, but am wondering if this is the most effective use of my resources. Thanks! -Scott |

Re: Daisy Chaining Firewire/USB 2.0 vs. Right In
run them off the same port, even when there are 2 or 3 ports they generally run from the same controller anyway. you wont come close to using the total bandwidth of firewire
