Just don't have a client in the studio and have to try and explain what's happening. Don't ask me how I know that one

I just got a email from PA's tech support verifying that the chirp does indeed happen and it's been forwarded to the coders. No eta on a fix though.

I agree that could be an issue. But for me... While I do have clients in sessions constantly, but for any mastering work, not so much.

It is a bit amazing though, that such an obvious bug could slip by.

I'm sure they'll figure it out and fix it.

That's what they said about the DSM bugs that still haven't been fixed.

It confounds me on a regular basis. I did purchase Iron because for the most part I like what it does but having to use a trim plugin to accomodate finer adjustments of level puts a weed up my keister. Heck I'd even settle for 1 dB steps.

From what I understand of Dirk's thought he's of the mind of the h/w doesn't do something lie finer steps then why should the s/w? Which is stupid given they add so much to a plugin that the h/w doesn't have like mid/side, wet/dry, mono maker, etc.

I wish he'd do a total output knob from inside of their wrapper. Maybe like UAD does with some of their channel strips.

Definitely. If PA is worried about gui space it could be done as a stacked knob with the wet/dry mix knob.

This brings something to mind - I wonder if it is a true wet/dry (parallel compression) knob or just a balance control between the two states? Drew or Dave might have ideas about that.

Is there really much difference? Parallel compression is the dry on one (or pair of) fader(s) and the compressed on another.

A balance control is just the same save one fader goes down as the other up rather that just adding processed to the unprocessed as most mixers seem to demonstrate.

Personally I prefer the mix blend knob. Keeps the levels more similar and less to think about. I dislike my NI plugs which have a separate pots for dry and wet.

Give me a single blend knob any day!

Stephen
