Default RTAS and TDM in HD10 sessions?

I want to run my Softube TSAR-1 (RTAS) reverb on an AUX in one of my HD10
sessions during tracking and mixing. Will an RTAS reverb function normally when inserted on an AUX during tracking on a HD10 session?

Yes. It will only consume more voices but if you have plenty you won't even notice

If I insert a RTAS reverb on an AUX in my HD10 session should any plugins inserted after the reverb (on the same AUX) be RTAS as well?
i.e. Reverb>S1 Imager

Preferably same format, yes, but it's not a rule. Mixing formats consumes more voices but can be done.

Avoid this: TDM-->RTAS-->TDM-->RTAS-->TDM

JFreak,

How about this: TDM>RTAS>RTAS>RTAS>TDM?

Much better, now you're only wasting one set of voices. Just don't add RTAS after the last TDM because that would be second set of wasted voices.

I strongly suggest that you do everything possible to not mix TDM and RTAS on the same track. I will track with the plugin in TDM mode so I don't have latency, however, as soon as I'm done tracking I change the plugins to RTAS. I just stopped using plugins that were TDM only except for Aux. Depending on your work flow, that may or may not be practical, I found it to be an acceptable compromise.

Why? Isn't that unnecessary, because re-opening the session switches it back to TDM anyway. I only change to RTAS if I ever run out of TDM resources, which is not that often with HD3.

I love TDM-only mixers. They never fail, and latency is always properly compensated...
