Default Control 24 Power Died

I was in the middle of a session and PT informed me I needed to update the Cntrl24 Firmware. I did. Then it asked to recycle the power. I did. Now it won't turn on. After switching the power on, there is a very slight pulse, that can visually be seen in the lights on the board. It's really faint, and the unit will not fully turn on. Any information on replacing the PCU and immediate solutions would be great. In the meantime, what can I use as a monitoring platform?

thanks

hmmm, sounds like the power supply in the C|24... I have PTLE, so if you have an HD system I have no idea if this would work, but it seems like you could/should disable (or just physically disconnect the ethernet cable) the C|24 in PT and (while a pain and potential for carpal tunnel)use you're mouse to adjust your mix. Your monitoring is (I think) actually done thru your interface (002 etc) The C|24 is just a real world GUI... (unfortunately it is NOT an analog console)

I miss my old Tascam

Funny, the exact same thing happened to me today (Saturday). The C24's power supply relay clicks once a second and promptly shuts off only to try again. Since the C24 has a switching power supply and these exhibit this behaviour when they see either an open or shorted load I opened the unit and unconnected all the distribution connectors one by one to see if a board was shorted. Nope. I'm now thinking that the supply just went south, I'm going to call Digi tech support to ask them if this behavior points to that possibility. I'll post my findings in this thread.

My C24 has started flickering. I turn in on and it starts to cycle on and off. The faint flicker thing ya'll were talking about. it just keeps doing it over and over. Have we confirmed that its the power supply? I assume it is since it won't even turn on.

yes it was the power supply. i spoke with digi and they informed me that certain models had a weak transistor (sp?) in the power supply unit. digi sent me a new power supply and directions on the installations. unfortunately i had to get a service tek to do the swap out, as it was not as simple as i thought. the whole process was solved and fixed within 36hrs; and the only expense i had was the tek.

yeah, same here, since the last post, digi 3rd day'd the new power supply to me. I installed it and am back in business. Though my C24 is 4 years old and out of warranty, Digi covered everything, including shipping for the old PSU too.

The whole experience with Digi on this has been great. They have done a great job.
