Aurora dose not work with the Apple codec. You need to use either Aurora's or Avid's codec.

I'm sure you have the manual but hears the link:
http://www.auroravideosys.com/suppor...alsdrivers.php

My experience is with the LT cards and they don't support playback of Apples codec, witch is usually what the picture editor delivers. I don't remember what page it was on one of the Appendixes I think.

hope this helps

hey craig,

yes, i do have a manual which i have read, but i don't take offence to your suggestion. and, i remember aurora saying that the apple motion jpeg-a functions virtually the same as aurora's mjpeg-a.

perhaps, the problem lay in the fact that the video i had had ONE field and was not interlaced. from the appendix:
Quote:
If a 720 X 480 frame of video was created using the Apple™ MJPEG-A Compression Option settings or similar process, but was not interlaced (contains only one field), it would result in a frame that was incapable of being displayed on a video monitor. This is one reason why you could have a movie that looks correct, but won’t playback out the video output connectors.
i solved my problem by putting the QT on another cpu and exporting it to apple motion jpeg-a. then, it worked. i think the eidtor did it as one field because he was trying to fit it onto a DVD-R.

This is not correct. I tend to use the Apple codec more often than the Aurora because id encodes a lot faster. I have never gotten anything with the Avid codec to play, probably because it doesn't come with anything I have. So while it may work for those that have an Avid product it's not a solution for those that don't.

Noiz2 is right. aurora confirmed that my problem was that the editor output a single field movie. and he reconfirmed that apple's motion jpeg-a works (almost) like aurora's martian jay-peg-o my heart-ay. when i (re)exported it using QT Pro, it gave me 2 fields.

thanks for the video help in an audio forum!
