Shure Sm7b will knock you out. Make sure you have a great pre though. I've used a solo 610 and a Dav and it sounds fantastic.

Those are all decent mics but you should remember, its not JUST the mic. Its a combination of mic, preamp AND the voice or instrument(which is why there really is no absolute best choice here). I have the MXL V69 Mogami tube mic which sounds good thru a class A solid state pre(Focusrite ISA428). I also have a TLM49 which sounds good thru a UA-610(as does my AT2020 which is under $100!). Rode has some solid mics and the new Mojave $1000 mic has gotten great reviews. There are differences in the various AKG 414 variants as well. If you can find an AT4060 tube mic, that's another good one. How much money can you afford? That will help to narrow the field a bit.

Second that.

Check out This
SM7B with a UA 6176 (one side is a 610, the other is a 1176) Beautiful sound on this particular voice.
It is only 550 cad as well.
The AT 4050 is also a nice mic for the price.

SM7B rocks. The preamp really depends on the singer as well as the mic. SM7B is great for rock through a nice pre (API, Neve) and then hit it with a distressor or another nice compressor and you have a great rock sound. Not a good fit for all, but really surprising. I would think it depends on the style you are tracking.

The M-Audio Sputnik is worth checking out. For the price it's surprising.
