Re: USB-C
From what I've read USB-C can carry Thunderbolt and Displayport also. Looks like we are coming to the end of Thunderbolt ports. USB-C will carry thunderbolt with an adapter until unified USB-C ports become standard.

Re: USB-C
Not overly tech-y myself , but given that third party cards will appear for USB-c does this mean:
a: One could add USB3.1/x to an older mac pro machine (presumably running a later OS) b: Could one run a avid thunderbolt box from such a card? |

Re: USB-C
There is going to be a lot of confusion with the C type connector. It will be capable of carrying video, TB, power, usb data, and all sorts of things, but it will only be able to carry what the manufacturer of the end devices create the device for. So some phones for instance may be able to transmit video to a monitor or even charge the laptop its plugged into, but not all devices will be built for these capabilities and the device might not be able to do more than carry USB data. Just because a machine has a C port, does not mean it can accept TB. I am putting together a blog about it and should have it out in the next week or so.

Re: USB-C
The goal of every computer manufacturer is one chip with one connecter to the outside.
