I've seen many times where someone has all their sessions intermingled with files being sourced from other session's audio files folder. Then when the delete or move what they think is an unrelated session, all their work goes to hell because half of their source files are now gone.

Hi Zed. Your much more adept at this than I but it's been my experience with 12 on Windows 10 that you have to move the (song/session/local)l from Pro Tools to another drive or it will delete the session when you trash prefs. Sweetwater tech support told me the same.

I've had 12.0 up to 12.8.1 and now back to on 12.4 and have never lost a session by deleting preferences, all the way back to PT 5.3. If you can, please post a link to that Sweetwater "advice".

In most instances, ones recording (session) should be on another drive anyway. In any case it would make no sense that session or audio files get deleted by choosing to delete preferences. The only exception I could think that would happen is if there was an option to do so when trashing prefs using a 3rd party trasher app.

Like 'The Weed', I've never lost a session or had audio files deleted when trashing prefs.

I'd suggest getting new tech support

As an aside though, once finished recording I ALWAYS make a copy of my session folder before doing anything else.
