How to get rid of split midi edit window
Hello,
This problem has been recurring without my changing anything. I click on a midi track to edit and will get a separate window to edit, then all of sudden when I go back to edit the same track I'll get the annoying split screen. I've tried changing window edit views to no avail. The only thing that's working so far is to close out of Protools completely then reopen Protools, and then open the same project that was having the issue. Can anyone suggest a remedy without having to close out of Protools? I'm guessing this is a bug of some sort. It's been happening for a while now. Thanks! Lisa mac osx 10.8.5 |

Re: How to get rid of split midi edit window
That has happened to me. I'm pretty sure there's a little arrow somewhere in the split window to close that. You can change it on preferences as well, look for something like 'behavior when double click on a region"
Sorry for the lack of accuracy, I haven't touched that in years.

As I mentioned what did work for me was to completely close out of Protools and re-open Protools. Thanks for the suggestions! Lisa |

Re: How to get rid of split midi edit window
Hi Dave,
I'm trying to avoid using the mac for online anything. Doing a screen capture would require me to go online from the mac. I'll do it if the problem persists and I can't find another solution. As far as more info, I'll try here: When I'm working on an arrangement and I highlight a midi track and click on it to edit it, normally a separate window will open with that track's midi editor on it only. What's happening when I encounter the issue mentioned, is that instead of the separate window opening with the midi, the arrangement window divides in two parts with the midi editor below the tracks in the arrangement window. Even when clicking on the little arrow to make that go away, it just comes right back again when I click on the same midi track. As mentioned in my post I was able to solve the issue by completing closing out of Protools, re-opening Protools again. Hope that helps. I did read that someone else reported the same problem a few years back in an earlier version of Protools, but the steps to remedy the issue are not working in my case. I think it's a bug of sorts in the program, unless someone can tell me otherwise. Thanks! Lisa |

Re: How to get rid of split midi edit window
As Mr. Spock would say there are always solutions: use a widget to do the screen capture and then sneaker-net it over to your online machine. Been doing that for ages.
