Re: Phono pre-amp
You'll need a dedicated phono preamp somewhere in the chain in order to achieve the correct RIAA EQ curve. (Or an EQ setting to mimic the curve.)

Re: Phono pre-amp
The Mbox 2 Pro actually has phono inputs on it. Otherwise, any DJ mixer could plug into any DIGI interface so maybe buy or borrow a cheap one for the project.

Re: Phono pre-amp
Thanks for the link JMS, I thought there was something different about a phono pre.
Interesting read, basically they used to cut the low freq. and boost the highs when cutting the record, and then the phono pre would reverse that to give a realatively flat response. Might try to mimic the eq curve...if that doesn't work too well I'll take albee's advice and rent one for a bit. Thanks for the replies..

Re: Phono pre-amp
I've been rescuing lots of vinyl over the past month. In the past I've used the Rolls box +/- $50US), which is basic but just fine; a Stanton DJ table (+/- $200US) with line outs, which was fine and has some interesting operational features - instant start, reverse, +/-15% speed. Currently, as I've acquired a Big Knob <giggles> I'm just using it's preamp, which is fine. If you were in need of the monitor routing anyway, look into that. If not, the Rolls.
I've also been having lots of fun with iZotope RX. I've grown to really like it, although I only use the AS versions of DeClick and DeNoise; the RTAS doesn't work at all for me; the standalone for Spectral Repair is great, as you can make the window full screen (and I really need to). A limited "no save" demo is available.
