Default Pro Tools Running Extremely Slow??

Hey Guys,
I was hoping someone could give me some input on my problem.
I recently Upgraded my computers processor from an Amd Athlon 630 Quad core to a Phenom 6 core and now when I run pro tools it is impossible to do anything because the program is at a crawl. The only thing that wont lag is pressing play/stop on the session and the audio will play fine, but doing any sort of edditing or command will take forever and might cause the program to stop responding for a couple seconds. Even re-sizing tracks will take 5-10 seconds. I tried deleting databases and preferences and playing with the playback engine settings but there is no difference. I tried opening different sessions and it seems that the problem comes from using rtas plugins. Any Ideas?

(EDIT): Nevermind. Pressing play will sometimes freeze the program too. And I tried opening one of the pro tools template sessions and they are just as sluggish.
