Dark theme in Pro Tools 2020.11

I don´t like dark mode in general. So I immediately switched to classic.

Dark mode, for me, doesn´t have a place in pro tools gui. The normal classic mode was and is simply the best colour palette of any daw and it´s the easiest on the eyes.

I really hope Avid doesn´t mess up "classic" mode as is simply the best.

I know pro tools since v5.3 or something like that (it was loong time ago) and I have never complained about the GUI.

This is by far different then that! Not even close! Not even to be compared with that. This dark mode is a disaster! IMHO! Not funny at all. Just sad!

Haha holy s***! That's DARK mode for us right there! I can only see the screen glare, its so DARK. Very..interesting look.. Why does it feel like a cheap copy of Adobe products? This implementation reminds me of the launch event for the Very affordable Carbon interface (Only $3999) and how Avid has started copying everything Apple does, just a lot worse. Sorry but I'm just never impressed. Impress me! One time! C'mon.

I did find that turning the brightness all the way up in the color palette helped to reduce how intense the bright/dark contrast was in some areas.

Too dark for my eyes. I agree that it could be improved, and, like you, I'm doing my best to like it. Visibility is quite good, but I also think the contrast is too extreme. The range of the saturation / brightness sliders should be increased to accommodate different eyes (full right with the brightness slider isn't enough for me). I would want it a little brighter, with a little less contrast if that is needed by anyone.

I am also not a big fan of Dark Mode, it's way too dark and colors are all wrong and there's no depth, it's confusing. Even changing saturation and brightness in Color Palette doesn't do anything. What somewhat works is if I bring my Mac's display brightness to the max, but then if I switch to other application that has a white background it kills my eyes.

It would be nice if there were more settings for GUI color adjustment.
I'll try and use dark mode for a bit and see if I can get used to it, if not I'll just keep using the classic mode.

... something about the cooler purple-y/blue of the menus when one clicks on an insert, for example, that doesn't match the warmer green-y/blue of the highlighted selection or normal dialog boxes.

I've switched back to 'legacy' grey for now at least :)

However, the real question is whether DUC will go 'dark mode' to match?!

Not for me, it would be nice Avid wouldn´t mess something that really works. Classic look only and concentrate the developing team where really matters.

I like dark mode in the new PT. But there are other things in this new revision that I can't work with that are much more major pains. As to the dark mixer in DP that's up to you how it looks. You do know that DP has different 'themes' that can entirely change the look right? On the odd times I go back to DP (I'm still on 9.52) I use the 'none more dark' theme.
