Default PT and Windows 10

Has Avid made any statements about PT running on Win 10 yet? Win 10 betas have been out long enough that I'd be surprised if Avid didn't have it in-house for testing. When I was doing software engineering, as soon as a new Win version became available in beta, we were testing it so as to be prepared when that version of Win hit manufacturing release.

And lacking any statement from Avid, has anyone on these boards given it a shot?

Thanks.

Some W10 chatter here. I'd hold off until Avid announces official support for it. I myself multi boot my operating systems.

A) final release can be different that public beta
B) I always assume 6 months min between OS release and Avid supporting it

Avid are very slow to test Windows setups as there are so many possible hardware combinations other than the ones they specify. Word on the street however is that all works fine. If you wait for Avid to qualify the latest Windows technology, you'll be waiting a long time. They're too busy fixing the Mac version every time Apple break OS-X.

Thanks, all. Useful/valuable feedback. My demands are very low since I'm mostly doing voice over work. I was just wondering how stable things were, and it sounds like they are reasonably stable. Performance on demanding loads is a different question.

From what I have been told by a couple folk is that if you have PT working on a Win 7 or 8.1 machine, it will work fine on Win 10.

It will most likely run fine, Windows has always maintained backward compatibility and 10 doesn't look like it will be any different.
Just make sure you keep your support plan current so Avid can help if you need it

FWIW, I installed Pro Tools 12.1.0 on my Windows 10 preview system two weeks ago. Install went smoothly and was able to load up old projects and play them with no issues. Haven't done any recording yet.

003 driver also seems to be working as well (at least for playback).
