Duplicating Tracks does not duplicate audio quality
My technician has observed that when duplicating a track, the duplicated clip does not sound exactly the same as the original track's clip. Whereas when you copy-paste a clip, it does sound exactly the same as the original clip. I would like to know what may be causing the duplicated track's clips to sound different than the original track's clips. Is the Pro Tools software programming making this difference when a track is duplicated, as opposed to when it is copy-pasted?

Re: Duplicating Tracks does not duplicate audio quality
I assume there's no plugin involved. How did he noticed that? What happens when you reverse the phase of the duplicate and mix down to mono?

Re: Duplicating Tracks does not duplicate audio quality
Hi, I just duplicated a track and inverted the polarity and it nulls out perfectly.
Are you running the duplicate through the same output as the original? Are you selecting all the track data to be duplicated as well? |

Routed to different hardware outputs? No reason they shouldn't be identical.

Re: Duplicating Tracks does not duplicate audio quality
There is workaround for this issue. Always delete original track after duplication!
Nobody else than your technician would have chance to compare the quality |

Re: Duplicating Tracks does not duplicate audio quality
There's something tricky with this title: Duplicating identical audio tracks should only put more volume......
