Default Differentiating between main screen and edit screen

Wondering if there's a setting that might help with this. When I open the MIDI edit window (or similar) and need to shift what measures I'm viewing, I all-too-frequently click on the main window slider (at bottom of screen) instead of the edit window slider (see attached image). If I could change the appearance of one of them, I bet I'd reduce the number of times I accidentally close down the edit window.

Any thoughts?

Blimey, I don't think I've used those sliders for yeeeeeeeears. Can't you just scroll left and right with the mouse? Or am I missing something obvious?

I'd be very happy to scroll left and right with my mouse. How's that accomplished?

Depends on the mouse. Some rodents have a scroll wheel that tilts which allows horizontal scrolling.

you can also just hit option-page up / page down to move forward or back a screen.
