Default Axiom25/PT 7.4 set up

I'm on the front end of the MIDI learning curve. I'm using PT 7.4 on an Imac. My new controller is an Axiom 25. I've read the manuals and am currently using a grooveboxmusic free tutorial to guide me through.

Here's were I'm stuck. I'm not using an interface, just plugging the USB from the Axiom straight into the Imac. The controller shows up in the MIDI set up window and appears active on a MIDI track. But when I try to find it in the input drop down of the corresponding intrument track, I can't make it appear.

The grooveboxmusic tutorial looses me when it shows how to connect the controller to an interface (which I'm not using, going direct via USB).

I'm really excited about learning this technology, but right now I feel like I'm sitting in the cockpit of a 747 and being told "FLY"!

Can you help me find my controller so I can use it with Reason Adapted?
