I've got it, use it, suits me just fine. Eight channels XLR , phantom power, nice pre's and the limiters are very usable. The pre's are a little noisy, but overall a good addition to the studio. Only channels 1 and 2 have hi-Z and they are also phase reversible. Of course you already know all this 'cause you've done the research, right?
Some have gone the RME route to get eight channels I/O and if you do a search you'll find quite a bit on the subject. I got mine for mic'ing drums but I end up using it all the time.

Cheers!

The Digimax certainly is one of my most favorite products. Most home and project studios these days are bypassing the console altogether and going with multi-channel mic-pre and Control Surface combinations. When you combine the Digimax with the Digi001, you're adding (8) more converters with high quality mic-pres (obviously), but the quality of converter is much better with a better dynamic range. Not to mention there is a really nice limiter built in into each channel.

Where is the best price??? Hmmmm

WOW... I've never known them to be noisy. How long ago did you get it? Maybe we need to replace it (that is if it came from Fort Wayne, Indiana)

I was warned off the Digimax by an engineer who hired two for a live recording project. He found them too noisy, even in the live situation, and also got really hot after extended use, which may mean reliability problems later on. I have never heard one, and perhaps they are a good bang for the buck, but I am looking elsewhere.

Bill.

Mike F
001 Pres and a/ds not good enough, eh?
Personally, I'm in the market for an ART tube MP studio; I've read rave reviews on it, and even though I think the 001 sounds pretty good, I'm easily swayed by a rave review.

I just got my digimax and I'm really happy with it. Sounds better than the Digi001 pre's.
