That brings up a thought I'll toss out: I wonder if this monthly fee would do away with ZDT as a separate charge and roll that into the fee? Now I'm not saying they're going to do away with yearly ZDT but have this monthly as a different way of working with the iLok licensing scheme?

As far as I remember, the poll went through every permutation : would you pay / would you pay if it were in addition to ZDT / would you get ZDT if cloud auths were included etc.

I already pay for it when I buy the software and an ilok key.
UNFORTUANLY if its only available on CERTAIN licenses and not others it's kind of useless.

It looks like PACE is giving the Publishers and Developers options either to use iLok Cloud, iLok USB smart key and/or machine-based licenses. You are right that as of Eden 4.0.0 SDK, a developer/publisher can create a new rule for iLok Cloud, and simply select that rule if they desire. I hope it will remain rule-based and never be automatic. Fear of Cloud 'downtime' is a bit misplaced, due to high-availability (Multi AZ) and multi-region deployment.
