Thanks a million. It doesn't solve my problem but it at least limits the possibilities.

Yes, I'm doing the optical (check the images).
It comes out from Mac Pro 2013 to the optical in of the HD Omni.

The firmware is the latest of the HD Omni, and Pro tools I can say I use this since PT HD 8 till PT HD 12.7.1

Did you try to reset your HD Omni to default?

That's what I thought. I'm really not to sure that the guy that I was dealing with from Avid knew the OMNI very well.

I did reset it. That didn't help. My firmware is version 2.10. Is that the newest?

Thanks,

Ryan

Crazy. So maybe it is a hardware issue. I'm going to try a TOSLINK to coaxial converter and see how that goes. I'll grab one this weekend.

Thanks again Marco. I appreciate it.

For anyone that's interested:

I ended up buying a Monoprice Optical to SPDIF converter and plugged the optical cable from my MacBook Pro into it, then out to the SPDIF in on the back of the OMNI. In the Hardware setup, I switched the "Digital 1-2 Input Format" to S/PDIF, then made sure that the "S/PDIF 1-2" had both "MON" buttons on on the Mixer page, and everything worked instantly.

So I'm not sure if my optical input is messed up but for those who are interested, that's how I solved my issue.

Thanks again to everyone that helped out.

Ryan

The only difference in my rig is that I have the Optical(S/PDIF) set to Main 3/4 instead of 5/6. Don't remember why. The only thing wrong with my system is that when I first start up I have to run some audio through iTunes to get the OMNI to sort of "wake up". It makes an unpleasant "pop" and then everything is great. If I don't do that, all playback from Pro Tools has distortion.

The setup allows me to select the optical out from the Mac as a source and record it into Pro Tools.

Sorry this is giving you grief. Good job finding a workaround.

Peter

Thanks Peter. It's a bit of a nuisance but I'm just happy that something worked.

Very odd. I've been using the optical in on my Omni to feed the optical output of my MacPro through my main monitors, and it works for me. Although, there is an occasional click from a a sample rate clock mismatch. But it still works. I'll post my settings. The only thing that is really different is that I don't have 'Use Tascam format' selected. Have you tried without that?

Default Another OMNI Optical Issue

I have used my Omni with SPDIF for a long while as well. I use the optical out of 1 of my TV monitors using the Nvidia audio driver into my Omni. Maybe my Mixer is backwards but I have to pull the faders down to get the volume to increase out through monitors.
