Default PT 12HD volume issues

This just started happening after I upgraded to 12. I start recording a midi track and all of the sudden the volume levels of everything jump up after recording midi. I save and reopen the session and everything is back to normal until I record another pass of midi. I can't figure this out.

Mac Pro 12 core
Mavericks OS

Delay comp on or off makes no difference. Using only a handful of plugins, mostly limiters or compressors.....

Ideas?

Look at your automation, I suspect you have recorded some volume automation.

Nope. I can close and reopen the session and all the levels are back to normal. Had it happen after an offline bounce once too. Might be time to delete preferences. Meters don't indicate any louder playback, but it's really WAY louder every time this happens.

Have seen this a few times after an offline bounce. It's like my audio print track AND the mix bus is playing together, but they aren't.

I always have a stereo audio print track in the session, routed to main outputs. I've been doing offline bounces with the print track muted. After the bounces, and dragging the audio onto the print track, the muted print track is also playing through main outs. It doesn't help to toggle the mute button. I have to toggle the solo button to make it muted again.

check the names of the outputs. See if they are in italics. If so they are aliases. What you render won't be the same. This happened to me when importing sessions.
If so, go to the I/O panel and click default on all the pages and then choose the real outputs no italics.

I have also experienced this on one particular session, but nothing to do with MIDI. I was mixing something, and then suddenly everything was pinning though I hadn't changed anything. I saved, closed and reopened the file and everything was fine again - until a few minutes later when it happened again. I've only had it happen in the one session though, but I've never seen it before PT12.

Weird. It has happened on a few sessions but didn't on a new session today.

Yes, it is intermittent here too. I'll try to pay extra attention to this issue in upcoming sessions. Can't remember this happening in 11.

Thanks.

It's back, and now it's 100% reliable. Every time I bounce, either audio-only or Bounce To Quicktime, playing back following the bounce process plays all tracks at full level, regardless of mix settings. It even plays back tracks that are routed to different outputs.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Pro Tools 12, and it's still there, even with no plug-ins. I'd like to try trashing my prefs, but although I was able to find it one time, I can no longer seem to find the page on the DUC that gives current information about which files to trash. I'd be grateful for a link, thanks! (and I can't access DropBox from here, so I can't use Pete Gates' great utility either)

***EDIT: found the current Pref-trashing instructions, but doing so made no difference. I have now reverted to 11.3.1, as PT12 has become unusable on my system.
