I/O settings with Pro Tools 11, and Presonus 16.4.2

Hi, I am having a issue getting master fader to work as my playback in pro tools 11. I can use each individual output as a playback, just not master fader. I have tried default settings in pro tools. I also have created custom setting that work the best. I have included pictures of input, output, and mixer settings.

I don't have that mixer, but the way I set my system up is, I use output 1 and 2 as the mix out, label them in the I/O dialog as MIX OUT L-R, and in the bus window set MIX OUT L-R to map to outputs 1 and 2.

Then on my channel strips I have the output set to MIX OUT L-R and the Master Fader the same.

I don't see you assigning the L R to any outputs.

Can you also post a screenshot of your Setup>IO>Bus tab so we can see the output mappings you have set.

We have just recently made the switch from logic pro X to Pro Tools 12. I've installed Pro Tools 12 now but there is no audio coming through my speakers and the board is not seeing any audio. We are using the "Presonus studiolive 32RML AI" just FYI.

The hardware and playback engine is set to "Presonus Firestudio." All my I/O's are correct. I set my output to "ch. 33-34" (which is set on my core audio and logic) I can get audio playing from Logic and simply from iTunes. But it doesn't seem to be getting any audio from pro tools. Is there a step that I am missing? Help me PLEASE!

Are you using the Ethernet port? Make sure the Ethernet box is checked under Peripherals in PT as that can uncheck sometimes when deleting Preferences etc.


Have ypu tried launching with the N key held down and when popup window appear choose the Presonus as your playback engine and see if that helps.

If it does goto settings and i/o and press default on all tabs even if you done this already just to be 100% certain it is set up straight.

IIRC Pro Tools will only see the first 32 I/O. Try setting your I/O as 1-2.

We are not using any ethernet ports. Its via firewire. I tried resetting all i/o options [by clicking default] and still nothing. tried the N key and also got nothing. It has to be something on the pro tools side of things because i can play audio from everything else (logic Pro, itunes, youtube, etc.). I also matched the settings from logic to pro tools and havent gotten anything either.

do you mean setting my hardware outs to be 1-2? Ive set my i/o in pro tools as 1-2 and nothing happened already.

The actual IO in pro Tools needs to be within the first 32 outputs. What they are called is irrelevant.

Can you show exactly what you are doing with screenshots of the Setup>IO>Output pages and the track IO selectors. But you need to post images that we can actually read the text on.

When you say it does not work what exactly do you mean? search through the IOs until you find something working. Make sure Pro Tools is the only thing trying to access the interface.
