Default What is the best internal audio drive G5 PowerPC

Hi everyone,
I'm looking to add an internal 2nd hard drive to my G5 PowerPC dual 2 gig machine.
I'm running HD2 with PT 6.2 (I know way out of date but planning to upgrade OS X and PT once I get this drive mounted and move some stuff).

As a follow up...what do you all like for firewire drives? I had mucho problems with my 2 LaCie drives.
See other posts...thankfully saved by Disk Warrior.

Thanks in advance for your posts
Bryan

Barnabas,Dr. Sound,
Thanks for the replies and links. I must admit looking forward to moving to an internal solution as I generally work on 2-3 projects at a time and could well manage on internal work drives and archive to firewire and DVD. My past problems with fw drive failure..most case or power supply related..make this a good looking option.

What is the advantage of "perpendicular recording" on some of the hard drives..I'm assuming it's seek time related but have not read up on it yet. Also faster is better i'm sure but is there a real world advantage of 10,000 rpm over 7200 rpm. I mostly do rock and blues. Low edit count little or no MIDI or virtual inst.

Thanks again
Bryan

7200 should be fine. I've used internal and external (SCSI and FW) Seagates for many years with no problems.

Though Seagates seem to be the favorite, LaCie's External drives use plain ole WD drives. Not sure what makes those externally enclosed drives any more reliable then the exact same naked drive. Hence, I have dual WD Caviar® SE16 500GB drives in my Dual 2.3GHz G5. I also have an external WD 1 Terabyte MyBook that has 1 USB port, 2 FW800 ports and 1 FW400 port on it. Works beatiful.

I would also like to know more about perpendicular recording. Is there an advantage for Pro Tools users?

Also, does anyone see a significant difference when using 10K RPM SATA internal drives over the 7,200 RPM drives?
