I downloaded the demo well over a year ago and only had time to play with it for an hour or so because I got swamped with work back then. Don't read much about it on this forum and I was wondering what users think of it. How is it and how does it compare to Phoenix and McDSP etc.

of the tape plugins its my favourite. Massey is good too, but is very flavoured - the digitape stuff is a lot more subtle and a lot more like using a ape machine as a hi fidelity unit. Massey is more for grunging stuff up!! Its NOT in he same league of using real tape, obviously, or the hardware units like the portico, but what it does, it does very well. IMO, the best of the plugs...

I have it, I use it. In simple terms it is more extreme that Phoenix, and less extreme than Lo-Fi. Sounds like your used up your demo. Do a short term rental to check it out.

Take a good look at izotope Trash. . . bit of a different animal, but very cool.

are you saying reeltape is more extreme than Phoenix?

I have the Massey which (IMO) picks up where the Phoenix leaves off.

what's the DSP hit on Reel Tape vs Phoenix? anyone? The Phoenix is really DSP friendly, which I appreciate.

The Phoenix is light on the TDM chips AND does plugin sharing, which I like a lot!

I liked the sound of the Reel Tape, but found it fairly subtle. Above all it is a DSP hog! There are specs somewhere, but I think you get 3 mono instatiations from one Accel chip...

I've noticed Reel tape creeping in on more and more of my sessions. I use the Reel Saturation frequently and go to this plug-in more than I thought I would.

A rental would be good, but for me it took a few weeks to fully appreciate them.
