Avid generally take a while to qualify new OS's. Best procedures are to either wait until Avid have qualified the new OS, or at least do a backup of your working config, then test the new OS yourself. If it doesn't work for you, you can simply go back to your backup.

Yes I have the same issue. Updated to El Capitan, downloaded the latest Driver from Avid and it still won't connect to my Mbox 3. Can avid please provide some information on this issue so we can at least know how long our product is out of action for?

Well, guys, Avid have warned us NOT to upgrade to El Capitan.

Thatīs definitely all they can do. If one decides to do it anyway, he will be on his own.
Thatīs just how it is.

According to this:

There actually may be a chance of Avid updating the drivers at some time in the (not-so) near future.

While I hope it is soon

Just discovered a workaround, perhaps...

First, some background information...

I upgraded to El Capitan and my Mbox continued to work. This upgrade was a clean install. My Mac Pro had generally had become slow, so I created a disk image backup of my system hard drive and installed El Capital on to a clean hard drive.

I subsequently manually reinstalled all of my primary system software: Media Composer, Pro Tools Express, Final Cut, Creative Cloud...

AT THIS POINT, it didn't occur to me that I would need to reinstall my Mbox Mini Driver... because it was working perfectly!!!

Yesterday, it occurred to me that I should install the preference pane control panel... as soon as I did this my Mbox Mini stopped working. The control panel showed "Hardware not Connected" and the Mbox was no longer an option under "Sounds."

Cue banging my head against the wall: "if only i had just left things the way they were... if only I had completed a Time Machine backup."

I did the only thing I knew to do after putting two and two together. I uninstalled the mbox mini driver that had disabled my device:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...S-X&popup=true

This did restore functionality...

MORE Googling...

SO... after lots of Googling and surfing in and out forums I discovered this notion of USB COMPLIANT DEVICES...

LIGHTBULB...

Knowing only a little bit about the inner workings of OS X audio and after more Google and forum searches, I started playing around with the AUDIO MIDI SETUP in the OS X UTILITIES folder.

I noticed that the "IAC DRIVER" icon was greyed out.

I clicked on it, the preference window opened and I saw that the device online box is NOT checked.

I CHECKED THE BOX.

Closed the IAC Driver preference window. The IAC Driver icon was no longer greyed.

I restarted my system and my Mbox Mini is now working (!).

It shows up as an Audio Output and Input option under Sounds Preferences.

Try it. Let us know if it works for you.

But I think Avid can't only warned us not to upgrade to new OSX
They should let users know how long the new driver can be used.

Some of did not upgrade to El Capitan - we bought Macs recently that came installed with it. Apple has made it almost impossible to install Yosemite on these machines. It takes a super-geek to figure out how, not just to make a boot drive, but to even get Yosemite as a download.
I am sure AVID understands that a lot of new Macs are being sold and we are now into Holiday Season gift buying. It would be a shame to see that no drivers are available after Dec. 25th for the MBox - AVID's own product! I just don't understand why AVID hates their own hardware so much and feels the need to punish people who bought it. I mean, starting with The Eleven and then the MBox it seems that AVID wants to crush anything that the development people from Digidesign touched.

Why can AVID support there own product??
11R will not work in El Capitan and NO ANSWERS to any questions of when it will!!

Why Avid Why?? You still sell the bundle with 11R. You update but the driver is the same?
Do you want to get rid of the small Studios?
Why can't you give us an answer? Aproximate time frame? Anything? Customer Care?

El Capitan was released on September 30th. Why is it that there are still no MBOX drivers?
