intel 915g, 915p, and 925x are NOT compatible. But 915xe, 915gv, and 915gl ARE compatible. Acording to tech support.

According to the compatibility docs none of the 9** series processors are tested
and nothing is listed as of yet to state that they are supported for the Digi 002R.

Maybe Digi is waiting for the Dual Core Intel Processors to qualify new chipsets.

Who knows?

LOL.... what a joke... no wonder so many folks opt for a mac. Does get a little crazy and I have a 12 year background in computers and IT. Btw: thanks for the tip off.

btw#2 I dont see much difference:

http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/linecard.htm

there is a BIG difference between what has been tested and what doesnt work...

btw#3 do these compatability issues exist with cubase and sonar... not that I would buy those programs... just wondering????????

This is the only that Digi states out them

Compatibility Alert — Intel Chipsets

* Digidesign's Mbox is not compatible with Intel 925X, 915G or 915P chipsets.
* Mbox is now approved for use with the 925XE chipset. Digidesign has not yet tested the new 915GV and 915GL chipsets. Be sure to check with the manufacturer for the model number of the chipset before purchasing.

What about the Firewire units that Digi sells, what about TDM.

The part I find odd is that this board was designed to take full advantage of the
Extreme Edition Pentium 4 processors, which cost as much as 2 Mboxs alone which isn't realistic,
but none of the other 9*** series sets are qualified and this one was one of the later releases.

Hopefully something will happen soon.

How about a program that's not coded to kill the processor to keep the LE version in it's place.

the issue was with certain USB audio devices, which obviously includes the mbox. the 002 works fine with these chipsets.
