Default SC48 recording Drivers for Catalina

Hi,
Updated to Catalina and tried to record from SC48 via firewire and it did not show up in my interface? Can't install FWX32 driver as it needs to be 64bit

Just wondering if this is a known issue with Catalina? Is ther a work around I am missing?

Thanks

It says End of Life 2017 but end of support and 2022 so my guess would be that this will be resolved pretty quickly.

The Pro Tools 2019.12 is ”semi Catalina” and video part is not great but Avid has stated these will be addressed next release so I can imagine some Avid gear might need a new driver. The HDX cards aren’t yet supported on the new 2019/2020 Macs although working on new Macs for example So I wouldguess that the SC48 series even though legacy today will get some love.

I can ask if you want so you get an answer from Avid Techs.

Thanks for the update and if you could ask I would appreciate it. Maybe to get an estimate on the time it will be before things get updated.

Any updates on 64bit drivers for the SC48 to be able to record with PT 2019?

I also would love an update on time-frame!

Very bothersome especially with the new MBP where you can't downgrade!!

I am also interested in support for the FWx card. The longer it goes the less likely it appears that anything will get done. Even though support is supposed to extend into 2022.

Anybody know if the driver is still stable with Windows 10 and current versions of ProTools?

This driver (along with many other reasons) is why I ended up purchasing a new laptop to run Catalina (and now Big Sur), leaving my old laptop running Mojave. I used the driver for a D-Show system myself. Besides that, my old laptop was also having significant issues when recording 64-channels off an S6L, which is now the console I’m using.

One other option I thought of so you don’t have to buy a new computer. macOS uses APFS as a filesystem since High Sierra. With APFS, you can create a separate volume on your drive, which enables you to easily run two separate versions of macOS (or more) on the same machine. When you need the drive, you can boot into the older version of macOS, and use Catalina (or even Big Sur) for everything else. Google is your friend for this.
