Default Post your greatest victories with protools

David 001's post about fixing aan error himself got thinking that it would be great to hear some people's biggest frustrations that they were able to work out on their own. I think this could serve as a great reference for people who have random problems to see how other people dealt with it.

OK... I posted this about 6 months ago when it happened, but it would be good to have a thread with all these together.

D-VERB AUTHORIZATION

Had the usual "Not a valid authorization diskette" message when trying to authorize D-verb. Solved problem by unplugging my LS120 drive and installing a standard floppy drive.

DIGI GEAR DOES NOT WORK WITH LS120 DRIVES.
You can have one installed, but don't try to use it in conjunction with PTLE etc.

There is a whole discussion board devoted to "Pro Tools Host Tips & Techniques" right after this one.

mix2much,

Man, I was trying to think of my 'greatest victory' here, and I can't. There have been so many. Each obstacle I came to, people like Mike, Darren, Mark, Brian, Allen, Christian, Peter, Chris, Brent, Yavuz, pk, and (I can't remember all my DUC friends right now) taught me something that led to a small victory, which was to be able to record a little better, and sometimes just to be able to keep recording at all.

I know that's a blanket, offsetting answer, but it's true. Whether it was correcting my IRQ, learning how to run plugins through my Aux. tracks, learning how to offset Midi, or a hundred other little pearls of knowledge, each one has been a little victory.

I've learned more applicable knowledge here in less than a year than at any other time in my life, including my time in college. I had never owned a PC prior to a year ago, and I had done everything BUT engineer. I'm still no whiz, but man, I've learned a lot.

So that's a real victory. Pretty cool...

So thanks, Roy

Finding out that my new Athlon computer with the K7M motherboard was incompatible with Digi001 after trying to get it going for two weeks. Upgraded the computer to the A7V133, then to my current A7M266. Made new friends through all the mess with Mark, Brian, John, Zach who helped me out. This DUC rocks.
Finding Waves plugins was my second big victory and buying the Rode NTK mic was a third. Hopefully my new Hafler reference monitors will be my fourth.
