I a couple of McDsp plugs, the bombfactory stuff, the plugs that come with the MPTK2, and others, and since I updated to cs2 i have had no WNB. How old is the drive your tracking to. Is it in good physical shape? (No abnormal sounds coming from it)Also, have you added any Adobe programs (like photoshop) to your computer (I have read threads about this) or any virus scan programs that might be doing realtime scanning while your recording? And as Key said, there aren't a lot of people that have this problem any more, at least on this forum.

The computer is a new as of December 2009 Dell Precision T1500 with 3 hard drives, I have the OS/PT8 on main drive, I record to second drive and use third drive for patches and backup. I have Adobe Reader installed to read the manuals, No Anti Virus installed? Oh and I defrag all the drives every Saturday Night/ Sunday Morning.

One last thought. Have you disabled C1E, CPU throttling in the BIOS. This alone can do a lot. (and also disabling any power saving features) LOL Originally I wrote "Poser"

im not basing my judgment on this one thread. i see people complaining all over the place about the problems with digi. IE, lack of 64 bit, white noise problems ect.

hi all,

here's a quick recap of my experience with that annoying WHITE NOISE. ive been using protools since 6.9 and never, ever had problems till I had to temporally use my laptop (acer aspire 6930). Could not playback ANY .wav files (recordings or loops) without bursts of LOUD white noise) strangely enough.. I was able to listen to these files without any problems within protools workspace browser and even Windows media player)

i was running protools 8.0.3 on a 320go hard drive 5400rpm with 2 partitions. After reading all threads this is what I did

-went back to only 1 partition on disk
-installed cs2 (as suggested by Avid support)

problem gone!!

hope this helps someone

AVID Pro Tools 8.0.4 has finally fixed my White Noise Problem. I have been cutting guitar tracks all day and have not had the White Noise problem even one time. The jury is still out on it being totally fixed for me but I have all of my Plug-ins in the plug-ins folder havnt deleted the DAE Pref or Databases Folder and I have no White Noise so far. This PT 8.0.4 just might be the best upgrade ever so far. Thank you AVID.
