Subscription always costs more.

I only subscribe to my apartment rental, utilities, phone and internet. Oh, and the necessary Apple Music Family for my daughter. Other than that, if subscription is the only option it is not for me and not even open for discussion.

I agree. The only thing that really bothers me is companies like SSL. For example, they have a new 4k plugin that is only available by subscription. I own so many of their plug-ins subscribing makes no sense.

I've been using their plugs since the Duende days, so it's really unfair IMHO.

Long time UAD plugin user here since owning one of the original Mackie branded UAD-1 cards when they first came out but I stopped purchasing them when they orphaned my rock solid OS 10.8.5 system. Now I've built a brand new rig around a Mac Mini M2 pro and I was thrilled to discover that they had started offering native versions and free of charge for owners of the DSP versions.

It sure seems like they are slow getting the rest of the library ported though. I wonder if it's logistical or a marketing decision? I would buy quite a few new ones if they were available without DSP...

This is a great move for UA IMHO. Evolve or die and they chose the former!

UA have been very slow off the mark. I guess there are several at the company who are thinking we should have moved to native much earlier and have the whole suite ported by now?

The plugins are great and I would consider one of the bundles at some point or possibly individual plugins.

Yeah, I think they've been dragging their feet because of their hardware line, possibly stalling for more time. That might have been what lead to Luna. Then at some point they would have released those SHARC chips aren't getting any better so the needed a different plan.

It's only speculation on my part, but my guess is that is what drove them to eventually realising software only plugins.
