Default Running PTLE from RAM disk?

Some time ago, I read a thread on tweaking one's PTLE rig (I think it was PTLE and not PT), I even printed it out, but now I can't find it.

The main adv. were stability and a little faster processing speed (opening/closing session, applying fx, etc).

The big problem is I have tried it, but I just can't get it to work!!! First, I create a RAM disk with 80MB (I got total of 256MB), put my DAE Folder (w/ DigiRack plugs), DAE, and PTLE app on the disk. Then I place a shortcut for DAE in the System Folder, trash all prefs.

When I try to open PTLE, it says DAE can't open (or something like that).

Opening DAE by itself works dandily, but opening PTLE afterwards (with DAE already open) always gives me error #3. DAE Memory runs at aprox. 40MB and PTLE everything between suggested size and 80MB.

Do I need more RAM?

My system specs are OS9.01, 256RAM, G4 AGP, 2nd hard drive for audio (7200rpm)...

does anyone know if I am doing things right?

Thanks!

Juergen

Default Re: Running PTLE from RAM disk?

I posted the ram disk thing originally, and from what you'd said I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm assuming it runs fine when you put everything back where it was. Trashing prefs isn't necessary, only for the WavesShells if you have Waves plugs on the ram disk. More ram certainly won't hurt, but you could also make a smaller ram disk, removing whatever plugs you don't actually use.
