Default M-Powered Not Responding

I've got a Laptop, Windows 7,64bit, three external hd's set up through firewire connections. Every so often, MP will just freeze up.. I'll see the words 'not responding' in paranthesis next to the program name on the top left of screen. After what can be a few minutes, it'll pop back and I'll be able to work again.. Sometimes, I'll notice that after this happens, I might not be able to drag and highlight sections of the session any longer, and I'll have to reboot.. Has anyone else had this issue with MP 8.0.3, on a laptop, 4 gig ram? I could run a Sandra Report if need be, but right now, I'm at the day job! Thanks
