Default Live Pro Tools

I am curious about how many people out there are using their Pro Tools live instead of a traditional board and PA system. If so, are how are doing it? Mac book or imac? Anybody else going lightweight?

I have been thinking about this every time a start to pack and lift gear. Imac and Digi 002 versus my 24 channel Allen and Heath and rack of effects. Then I am considering some of these real light speakers and keyboards versus my power amps, 15 inch wooden speakers and a full weight Kurzweil PC 2X.

Your thoughts.

Default Re: Live Pro Tools

My band uses a G4 macbook and a 002R for our live show. We have our samples being run out to the mains, and then different mixes for each member to use with their inears to play clicktracks and recorded parts.

We also have our Pro tools rig control a DMX light controller which controls of of our stage lights (floods and strobes) that we set up.

Works really well since its just play back. with no audio being transferred through.

Give it a shot in a practice first... if you have a stable system, it could potentially work. I have used my PT rig for FX processing in the past, but never had the guts to run the whole system through it. To be fair, that was back in the days of the P4 processors :)

To reduce latency, make sure you keep the playback buffer low, and use plugins with low sample delay. Sorry if that is stating the obvious. :)

Give us an update if you fall in love with it!
