Still struggling with MIDI
Hi,
im still struggling with MIDI in Pro Tools 2018. All I want is simple note input from a MIDI keyboard. It works in one song but not in the next. Even if I import the working track from another session via Session data Import. I guess the MIDI routing is general preference but with PT 2018.10 Ultimate it not. I never had such problems with my old PT 10 HD setup. I dont see whats changed. Can someone explain to me, please? Best Mark

Re: Still struggling with MIDI
Audio Midi setup utility.
Keyboard your using? Swap Usb cable? Midi cable to usb interface,,driver? A whole slew of other thoughts including prefs. Maybe update your signature specs

Re: Still struggling with MIDI
Hey, I didnt want to be disrespectful to you. I feel sorry for doing it. But to me your advice sounded like make sure you the power chord is connected.

Like for instance: (after reading your words three or four times) Sounds like you talking about triggering midi notes from midi keyboard that then actually show up as "midi notes" in the edit field ? . And you are saying in one session it works and then in a different session it does not work, correct ? What you failed to indicate is, if in the sessions it does not work, whether or not the keyboard is also not making any sounds at all, thru the plugin instrument. So If it is also not making sounds then, (given the dearth of provided info), just a wild guess, but it could be that you have "first selected midi track" selected in Midi Preferences > Default Thru Instrument, but are simply not selecting the midi track you wish to input to from your keyboard. IF it is making sounds but not inputting notes while recording , then I have no idea, maybe a faulty keyboard ??? But for perspective my midi keyboard is working fine in my system, so it would seem to not be the software.

Re: Still struggling with MIDI
1) does this happen in a blank session as well as the One Session you say does do it ??
2) in the session where it does not work, has the Midi Assignment (top of Mixer Channel - you may need to go to View and make sure you see Instrument / midi) ?? what other Midi / channel assignments might we be missing ??
