Default PT 10 Free trial is up now

Hi,

http://www.avid.com/specialoffers/product-trials

30 days and requires an ilok

A few things to think about if you are NOT going to use a separate boot drive to test on...

REMEMBER TO SAVE ALL YOUR SESSIONS AS PT7-PT9 SESSION FORMAT BEFORE THE DEMO RUNS OUT!!!! IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PURCHASE AND REMAIN ON 10. you do this in the file menu/save copy in.

SERIOUSLY either create a new system install or duplicate your current system using something like carbon copy cloner and use this second boot system to test 10 on.

Any immediate crashes will most likely be caused by out of date plugins! either test with only the Avid plugins or update your third party plugins!

You can revert back to your previous version by using the uninstaller included, then re-install your previous version. but remember to save any session you ran on 10 as PT7-9 format as explained above.

Chris

I want to be the first to say - AVID, I know we've given you a lot of flack (and deservedly so in many cases), but I appreciate you taking the feedback on this forum about how a 14-day trial is inconsistent with the industry and the other trials for your own products, and for making it a 30-day trial now.

Thank you very much. It is appreciated. Nice to see you guys are listening.

Question: If you download and install the trial, when you eventually register/buy PT10 do you have to download and install again?

I know the answer is to install on a separate OS drive but what happens if I install the 10 trial on my PT9 drive and then after a month goes by if I don't purchase 10? Can I go back to 9?

Thanks!

Hi,

No it is the full installer of both PT10 and the separate installer for the virtual instruments. when purchased this download will be in your account products page.

Question Re: PT 10 Free trial is up now

Maybe a dumb question, but do we have to uninstall 9? I'd hate to uninstall it just to try a demo.

Yeah, I noticed the file dates are October 17th ... Hope the iLok license works cause it's for Digidesign not Avid. Thanks for the info ...

Been waiting for this to try out and look again at PT from PT7 (before alot of stuff changed in v8) so v10 would be a good demo trial..

But bugger - demo needs an iLok!

I only have a Propellerheads Reason 6, usb key which i think isn't an iLok?
