Come to think of it, I was pretty happy on Windows XP in terms of stability provided I did the recommended system tweaks. Who remembers the Blue Screen Of Death problem with Service Pack 2 and the PACE driver? Windows Vista was an utter failure for me. About two and a helf years ago I experimented on a Mac for Protools and it have been super stable. I now do all my Protools on Macs. I am hearing a lot of good results on Windows 7 with Protools however, so I may play with it at some point. I guess my point is that the stability issues for me were more related to the OS and less on Protools (any version)

I find PT9 on W7/64 to be every bit as stable as the early versions when you consider that we are asking so much more from it in every way. If you were to never use the Elastic features or run VIs, or mix over 24 tracks of audio, PT9 would be hard to kill.

Vista was a complete flop audio wise.

There really was little reason proaudio wise for MS to change the audio stack, alot of people stuck with xp for good reasons, even today, other than audio.
In many ways it's easier to make leaner and more stable.

Things 30 days + uptime can be a rare occurrence on windows boxes.

9 is pretty damn good, but I have REALLY fond memories of 7.3 on Tiger Osx10.4
That system was ace. Even on a G4

I was good with XP/8.0.1 for a long, long time.
Currently on OS 10.6.6/PT 9.0.1, with no issues whatsoever.

After initial teething problems, I've now got win 7 PT9.02 running stable. Too early to tell if it's 'the best' I've had but certainly the most powerful.

PT 8.04 on XP SP3 was best until I upgraded.

I've been a PT user since the beginning and for me 9.0 is the best yet. Just used it for 10 hour days on a TV show without a hitch.

Even more amazing is that I left the HD rig at home and used a MacBook pro and an M-Audio 2626 for extreme portability. It's a great time to be a PT user!
