I have read several articles about the ins and out of off line bounces, rendered audio etc. and I am still not convinced.

Scenes from the movie "The fly" come to mind, and I certaintly would travel to the moon for two months confined to a small intergalactic spaceship rather than being "beamed up" there. This machines can loose particles of my body, and man! what if I arrive without my 8 inch manhood?

In lamest terms, the same thing happens with digital audio, and just like dithering is not an exact and true science, off line bounces are not either. You can call me oldfashion, but even if I have to sit there for hours, I like my bouces in real time.

Last I checked, TDM could do faster-than-realtime bounce. It's only the HD versions with RTAS and LE/M-Powered that can't, and it's because of the RTAS engine. It's simply always running and only goes at one speed. That's also why the CPU meter stays up when not playing, the plugs are still processing 0's.

The reason for this option being taken out is that it is impossible for TDM to do a faster than real time bounce, it can only be done in real time, regardless if there are external I/O considerations or if it's a completely in the box bounce.
I just like banging my head against a brick wall.

So bounce to disk actually does help in this matter because it serves as the quality control stage at the same time the final mix happens.
True, though serves no purpose with mix downs, MIDI or Audio.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Offline bounce is nice.

Out of curiosity, have you ever had a problem with an off line bounce? Just audio, no video. Using DP I never had an Audio problem, Contained QT movies however were a different story.

?????

Just curious.

And yes, I still want offline bounce in PT

No,
Actually never had a glitch, been doing them for a year now on the 2 other DAWS that I use
and I have compared offline to realtime and they null out completely!

BTW the neat thing about LP8 that is better than Reaper is you can do mp3 and wav at the same time.
This saves mega time on the 1.5 hour files that I do.
These 1.5 hour files take about 7 to 8 minutes to Bounce!

And yes, I have always said I used to love Protools!

But why work handicapped?
I wish DIGI would really smell the coffee and look at how DATED their software/hardware has become.

I guess I just miss the DUC ever now and then!

If we never get offline bounce with LE, a nice feature would be "batch mode / automated" bounce, where you could point at a bunch of PT files that need to be bounced. PT would open song 1, figure out the active region to be bounced, and just do it. Then move on to song 2, etc.

What kills me is having to be in the room, waiting 5 minutes for song 1 to bounce, then load up song 2 and wait another 10 minutes... etc... If this was something I could set up before going to bed, it would be ready in the morning.

It may take some doing to select a region, and perhaps save the PT file with that region selected so the batch engine would know what it's bouncing, but I'd much rather spend 10 minutes setting regions, than 2 hrs attending a bounce session.

it would be very nice to have some other options at least.

while talking to others about this lots of good points have been made. a program full of patches, fixes, old code, etc. is going to have LOTS of problems. why is performance so bad compared to other daw software, why so limited in options like offline bouncing, so picky in hardware. it needs a complete and 100% overhaul, rewrite from the ground up. might lose things like backwards compatibility and such, but so be it, time to move foward. we have lost lots of valued users around here the last year due to pro tools limitations and problems. this is going to continue to happen until the hardcore base is gone. there is not many of us around here left.
