Default MIDI recording problem/question

Hello all. I pulled my hair out yesterday over this. I had a stereo instrument track with SD2 and recorded the midi for a basic back beat for part of a song. No problems there. Then I added another stereo instrument track and SD2 for a different beat that would go through the entire song. Every time I tried to record new MIDI on this #2 track, it would over-write the first track too. I made sure the first track was not in record, tried muting it, changing the instrument assign, disabled the track and nothing would prevent that track from being re-written whenever the #2 track was recorded. Any ideas?

SD2 was being fired from a Roland TD10 kit. Input instrument was started off as the TD10 as assigned in MIDI studio and is set for midi channel 10. Triggering is fine. I have other devices in MIDI studio on other channels and switching to any of them didn't fix the issue. Glad this is not a normal requirement for my work.......

BTW, the only solution I figured out was to copy the entire midi from track #1 to a new empty midi track. Once I finished recording track #2, I copy/pasted from the midi track to track #1. What a PITA

Hmm..that is odd, Albee. I'm guessing here, but did you have the two MIDI tracks linked in any way? I'm wondering if you had somehow highlighted both tracks (you know, CTRL click the track name), would that cause them to work in tandem? Just a guess.

The midi someway or another is reading the same channel so is there not a way to change the channel within SD? I've never used that plug so I don't know but that would be the remedy...

I know of no way to link the 2 tracks. The first track was not in record, but the midi data was over-written every time the transport was engaged. I guess I need to mess with it some more in a sacrificial session.

I'll dive into it tomorrow and report back
Okay, created a new session and do not have the issue?!?! Very confusing to say the least. Guess I'll just have to see what happens in the future.....

I've had little mysteries like this from time to time...if they go away with a new session, then I guess that something just didn't code correctly when the initial session was opened or set-up.

Bug Reproduction 101. If the issue was reproducible on the new session then there might be an issue, Dave.

Followup. I was recording a new session and had the same cross-recording happen again. 2 stereo instrument tracks with SD2 on each. I recorded a pass on the first track and then took it out of record. Started recording the second track and the first track midi info was over-written. ARGHHHH It seems to happen when it wants without consistency between sessions.
