The 4 pre-amp model is not old it's still made and it appears that is the model in the Turbocharged Exchange. To tell the new 8 pre model look for the + sign at end of the name, 003 Rack+

What he said. And consider that the 003 + version may not be so ideal as it is looking like it resets all the input switch settings every time it gets powered up(just letting you know another user is unhappy about this and no one has offered a solution). I am referring to all the mic/line and high pass switches.
