Sorry to tell you this, but there is no wave driver for vista, so you will need another sound card in the computer to hear audio from windows and other programs.

Cheers,

Justin

As far as I am aware, there is no Wavedriver (the driver that makes the 002 the default windows soundcard) for Vista. (unless something has changed recently).

And if there was, it would/should be installed with the software.

Digidesign WaveDriver for Windows XP — (Not Supported With Windows Vista)

The Digidesign WaveDriver is a single-client, multichannel sound driver that allows third-party audio programs that support the WaveDriver MME (Multimedia Extensions) standard to play back through the following Digidesign hardware:

* Pro Tools|HD audio interfaces
* 003
* 003 Rack
* Digi 002
* Digi 002 Rack
* Mbox 2 Pro
* Mbox 2
* Mbox 2 Mini
* Mbox 2 Micro
* Mbox

Playback of 24- and 16-bit audio are supported at sample rates up to 48 kHz, depending on your Digidesign hardware and WaveDriver client application.

The Digidesign WaveDriver provides 2 channels of output on all systems.

WaveDriver is not multi-client. Only one application at a time can use the WaveDriver. Be sure to disable the Windows system sounds. It is also recommended that you use a separate sound card for games or other general work. For third-party software synthesizers and samplers, or for any applications requiring full duplex input and output use the Digidesign ASIO Driver (refer to the included ASIO Driver Usage Guide).

For more information, see the following document included with the installer:
Windows Audio Drivers Guide

One would hope, but I honestly wouldn't hold your breath.

The Wavedriver, in general, is in dire need of an update. When/if they develop it for Vista they should really update it.

I just connect the outputs of my cheap, built-in soundcard to the alt-src inputs of my 002R. It is, after all, what the alt-src inputs were designed for.
