Default Can you put a stock 9600/350 processor in a 9600/200?

My two 9600s have slightly different motherboards in spite of their manufacturing dates being 6 months apart. Were there 'versions' of the 9600 excluding speed differences or were the motherboard configs native/restricted to use of their stock processor card? Wondering if I can swap my stock 200mhz for a stock 350mhz processor card. Anyone with info or experience? Thanks...

T-LAY is correct. I researched this a bit when I upgraded my 9600/350. I was able to use the 350 daughter card in my 8600/300. I wasn't aware of the 8600/250 working, but a check at www.everymac.com reveals that it also is based on the "Kansas" architecture like the 9600/300, 9600/350, and WGS 9650/350. I don't know of any other models that it would work on.

You should be able to do that with no problem. Just be sure to reset the CUDA (the little red button on your motherboard) before you reboot the computer.

NOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!

The 350 MHz-Card is "Mach5"-CPU
aka 604r and has INLINE-Cache
running @ 2xCPU-Bus = 100 Mhz.

This Card will only fit into 8600/250 ->
9600/350.

older 9600 (604 & 604e -> max. 233 MHz) have "simple" 2nd Level-Cache running
@CPU-Bus = 45 - 50 MHz.

if you want to boost your 9600 for ProTools, better buy a G3-Upgrade
from "XLR8".

Thank you all for your feedback. I'm going to check that everymac.com site, Bruce. Wondering where you got your good info, T-LAY.
