Just a heads up, Sweetwater has the plan renewals on sale right now for 20% off. That's $320 for HD. You buy it and get the serial number. You can register it when you need it... I think.

Thank you for posting this. Didn't realize I could purchase the HD support plan renewal through Sweetwater. $80 bucks off! It appears you are correct. Inside my Avid account, it shows the exact same name as Sweetwater-

UPDATE: on the "What's the deal Avid" page, I clicked "Renew your upgrade plan" and it instantly gave me the Biotek in my account. I did purchase the Sweetwater renewal but did not use it yet and Avid didn't charge me either; however, strangely, after clicking that button the Biotek is now available in my account.

I think it is great Avid is doing this. Along with the current 20% offer on support plan renewals etc it is taking a bit of the sting out of it.

The email I got says the 20% off is only for new customers.

But my account does show Biotek and the SFX.

As I think has been mentioned already, Sweetwater do the 20% off upgrades (a particularly good deal for UK buyers).

There's an awful lot wrong with Avid, but this all feels like a small step in the right direction. I never use the rental plugins, but offering upgrade deals to mitigate the exorbitant prices and bundling a few genuinely useful freebies like the (very good) SFX takes some of the sting off.
