What is the RTL of HDX at 44.1kHz, 48kHz??
RTL = Round Trip Latency. Analog in --> HD i/o -->HDX --> through ProTools AAX-DSP plugin --> HD i/o -->HDX -->analog out.
AVID only publishes the 96kHz number as 0.7ms (and I assume this is for only zero additional latency AAX-DSP plug ins (are most zero or near zero?)) So how about at 44.1kHz or 48kHz? Does any one have that measurement?? Thanks!

Each DSP plug-in will have its own amount of delay. There is no way to provide you with a single answer to your question without specifying which plug-in you are using.

The lower sample rates will be roughly double the latency. Still much less than my HDN rig and I have yet to hear complaints of latency with "no-latency" plugins(like EQ III, BF76 and many others) or even some low-latency stuff. I usually track at the 128 buffer(without any mention from players) but my rig will run at the 64 buffer just fine for the first 40 or so tracks

If we look at the RTL for LowLatency Monitoring mode in HDN we get
96k = 0.47ms 44.1 = 1.9ms Ratio = ~ 4X not 2X This is what is prompting my question to an actual HDX user.

i have never encountered any noticeable latency while tracking with any DSP plug in. normally the latency is equal to out board gear. I have used hundreds of DSP plugs including amp simulaters, delays, eqs, compressors, limiters, pitch correction, delays, flangers, and reverbs. The latency is normally the same regardless of the delay compensation needed.

I am making no judgements about it
We all know TDM + 192 i/o with near zero latency TDM plugins was ~ 2.4ms at 44.1kHz. Just would like to know what the actual number for HDX at 44.1kHz with something like EQIII is (or even with no plugin would be helpful)

just to be clear most if not all TDM plugs are zero latency. at least at the monitoring stage. I know some may say they have latency as far as the delay compensation numbers but that has no effect on the input latency

If I had the hardware, I'd measure it for you. But, you can easily do it yourself (http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=368473). Since I measured roundtrip latency without plugins using standard PT, I had to turn “Low Latency Monitoring” off to get an output from the first loopback. In that configuration PT should compensate for the RTL if your “Playback Engine” reports its input and output latencies correctly. I haven’t tried it with plugins, but I imagine it should do the same thing with them in the loop. You’ll have to figure out the impact of using/not using “Low Latency Monitoring” in that case. Have fun! I, and likely many others, would be interested in your results.
