where to put outboard gear

Hiyall,
maybe simple question. I have an 002R and a C-24. I have a reverb unit and a compressor I like, and don't know how to route them into all this virtual stuff. Sure I could just put them in between the mic and the c-24, but I may want to use them on other inputs or outputs. Is there a way to set up a channel that I can assign to, or an insert or something?
