I have got the Asus 8600 GT 256 MB silent.
Running well, gets a little hot though.

I recommend strongly that you DO NOT install the Asus GamerOSD utility!
It caused quite some trouble for my rig (BSODs), as it seems to operate on a deep system level!

TCM, thanks for the info. i wouldnt have known about that. is the gamerOSD part of the driver installation? would i opt for a custom install of software components? or just an add-on included thats strictly optional? ... i ask this because i usually just install all recommended software by default, i'll keep an eye out for this though. should be here within a day or two

system specs
ASUS P5K motherboard (latest bios rev. 1006)
Intel Q9450 2.66 Ghz Quad
Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 4GB
Western Digital Raptor 150gb SATA (x3)
ADS Pyro64 FW

Well, I got the machine built according to my specs in a computer shop, so I actually don't know.
It wasn't a problem at all to uninstall it, as the gamerOSD shows in the "Add or Remove programs" list.
I figure that you should have the choice when installing the drivers. Should not be a problem.
