Default Feet and Frame Reset in Super sessions?

Hey you LA folks,

How do you deal with the fact that PT requires you to reset the footage counter at the beginning of each reel in a super session? It's annoying having to constantly reset it when doing fixes during a mix.

Thanks!
JR

Well it's 5400 Ft every hour so when you go from Hour 1 to Hour 2 it's 5400 more feet. I don't know how you can change that other than zero out the footage every hour. It's not that big of a deal as it's on a pul down menu "zero out footage".
If someone has a "trick" way of doing it I'm also interested.

I have a macro somewhere which does the following:

(prior setup involves creating a keyboard shortcut for "Current Feet+Frame Position..." by pressing cmd+opt+ctrl+p in system preferences)

• Prompt text box asking which reel to go to
• Enter your number
• Set main ruler to Timecode
• Press =
• Press right arrow (to go to hour)
• Input the number I chose previously and press enter
• Then press cmd+opt+ctrl+p
• type 0 and press enter
• Set main ruler back to F+F
I'll try to post the macro/video of it at work. It makes more sense to see it than read this.

I like this. With Eucon, you could set this up with a single press and no prompt for every reel (on the S6 or Dock/App).

One thing (if Avid ever fixes this) the "right arrow" should really be "left arrow". Right arrow should take you to the frames (utmost right of selection). Currently, both take you to the hour so it works either way.

Thanks Ryan! Do you use that Macro on the ADR Stage?

The ADR stage is chock full of amazing things that I wish I could take credit for. The F+F reset is one of them. I set up the film in a super session and jump from reel to reel within seconds if the cues are done in F+F.

I just made a new script since I couldn't find my old one. NOTE: I figured out how to avoid needing to set up the system preferences shortcut but you still need something to trigger this as an app, like FastScripts.
set xReel to display dialog "Which reel would you like to go to?" default answer "#" with icon note buttons {"Cancel", "Continue"} default button "Continue"
tell application "Pro Tools" to activate
delay 0.1
tell the application "System Events"
tell the process "Pro Tools"

perform action "AXPress" of menu item "Timecode" of menu "Main Counter" of menu item "Main Counter" of menu "View" of menu bar item "View" of menu bar 1
delay 0.1
keystroke "*"
delay 0.15
key code 124
delay 0.1
keystroke (text returned of xReel)
delay 0.1
keystroke return
delay 0.1
perform action "AXPress" of menu item "Feet+Frames" of menu "Main Counter" of menu item "Main Counter" of menu "View" of menu bar item "View" of menu bar 1
delay 0.1
perform action "AXPress" of menu item "Current Feet+Frames Position..." of menu "Setup" of menu bar 1
delay 0.1
keystroke "0"
delay 0.1
keystroke return
delay 0.1

end tell
end tell

haha, no probs Marti!

Ya, it's not a huge deal but thought I'd ask since we don't use feet+frames on a regular basis. We're just used to typing in timecode values anywhere in the session and getting to that spot instantly without any menu clicking.

Serious question...
Why does anyone still use Feet+Frames?
I haven't seen it in a long time here in NY...
Is it the norm out in LA still?

(And I know it's not up to the sound department anyway...obviously if the pix department is working that way...)

It made sense when physical film still existed... but now seems a relic of a bygone era...

edit: also to keep it on topic...
I have 2 macros set up... 1 that swaps main counter from TC to F+F (or vise versa) and the other sets current TC to 0 Feet... so I switch to TC, navigate to the proper hour... zero out F+F and switch back... 3 buttons, but works quick
