C24 routing talkback to Cue mix
The internal talkback system in the C24 seem extremely limited. If at all possible, I am looking for the best option to route the C24's talkback through to my cue mixes which are routed through the outputs of my secondary 16 X16 I/O.
Thanks in advance! System Details- C24 Avid 16 X 16 X's 2 Native Thunderbolt Mac Pro 3.5 GHz 6-Core 32 GB |

Here's 2 options:
Assuming you do headphone mixes from inside the sessions(with AUX sends to outputs), connect the talkback out(XLR on the back of the C24) and connect to a line input on one of your IO boxes. Assign it to an AUX track in your session and ad sends to all your headphone mixes. Talkback should now feed all the headphones My preferred setup(as I got tired of producers never remembering to hit the TB switch I gave them) is to make it all automatic. (this is saved as a track preset and is used in all my sessions). I put up 2 AUX tracks and 1 AUDIO track. Aux 1 is fed by my control-room talkback mic(Crown PCC-160) thru a spare preamp. AUX 2 is fed from another PCC-160 over the drum kit thru another spare preamp. The AUDIO track has 10 minutes of pink noise at -20 and the output is set to NONE. Each AUX track gets the Digirack compressor plugin set for fast attack and release, and a low threshold. and SIDECHAIN is enabled from a bus. The pink noise track has a pre-fader send to that bus. When I hit play/record, the pink noise causes the compressors to shoot to -40, which makes the talkback mics inaudible. As soon as I hit stop, the compressors release and everyone can talk and be heard

re: C24 routing talkback to Cue mix
Thanks albee1952,
I don't have an XLR talkback out of the board, but I am attempting to take it out of the Talkback Slate Output (channel 5 on the Cue+SLS+TB output section) into the input of an aux channel. There I should see a signal when I hit the TB on the aux channel no?. But no luck. |

Hmmm, I could have sworn there was a TB mic output, but maybe I am wrong on that(haven't worked on that system in several months). Maybe it was on one of the fans from a DB-25 cable that connects to the back of the C24? In any case, my second(preferred) method, with a cheap "boundary" mic will work in ANY setup

Re: C24 routing talkback to Cue mix
Yes, there is a talkback pair coming off of the Cue DB25.
I have mine hardwired to a dedicated interface input at the patchbay. also the auto talkback feature works really well.
