Default probably a stupid ilok question

O.K. this is my first post here and it may have been covered already.
I have used the search function but there is soooo many ilok questions and i have no idea where to start... anyway thanks for reading and if anyone can help. you rule.

At home i have a Mac using LE with a 002 that i use for mixing.

I also work at a mastering studio and the owner sometimes takes his ilok home to do work on his laptop.
this renders the studio helpless unless i can figure a way of autorising
my ilok to be able to operate his system.
he uses a LE based system with a Mbox thing on a P.C.

we both use 7.3

is this possible? i mean we both have paid versions of protools so i cant see any kind of legal or moral issues?

how can this be resolved so we can keep the studio functioning all the time?

at the moment we are running at half our potential.

thanks to anyone who can shed any light on this.

cheers

yeah i guess it is M powered. i assumed it was a Mbox...
its a P.C. based thing that i don't really know anything about.

i dont have to use an ilok, but i do have to use one for the music production bundle of plug ins and stuff.

is there a way to do this though?
in theory it seems reasonable.

For one, the iLok is for holding the already paid for, and some demo licenses for the plugins for Pro Tools. The MBox and Digi 002 are just the hardware that Pro Tools needs to see when it's loading up to actually "turn on" so to speak so it can be used for tracking, mixing etc...

Are you trying to use different plugins that are on the Mac and not the PC? Or vice-versa? If so... you will have to have those same plugins installed but in the PC/ or Mac format. Also... the only way to make those plugins work, you will:

A) Have to use/ borrow his iLok and take it home and put in on your machine.

or

B) Purchase a second iLok as well as all of the plugins that are installed on the first one. Or you can have a second iLok and move some of his licenses to yours so you can use them, and then move them back when you're done.

Hope this helps.

i barely use any pro tools plugins in the mastering studio, mostly hardware, so this will not be an issue.

the problem is that his pro tools software (same version only mine is mac his is PC) wil not run without "his" ilok.

I'm wanting to know if i can get it to run using mine, so he can take his ilok home to run on his laptop.

Pro Tools LE itself does not require an iLok authorization. What you're probably seeing are plug-ins that require the iLok to authorize in which case, no, you cannot use those plug-ins without the iLok for authorization.

Does he have Pro Tools LE M-Powered? I believe that does require the red iLok but I could be wrong as I don't use that version.

As mentioned above, you would need to have one of those attached to the computer in order to launch Pro Tools LE.

If you do have the LE interface attached, at what point does PTLE not launch?
What is the exact message that you see on the launch screen?
