I have crashes while editing. I'm 100% sure they are auto-save related.. It's like russian roulette

-9173 on playback and record. Had 1 stock eq plug and that was causing it on recording 14 tracks of live drums. But the more plugs you add the worse it gets. Did not go away by removing 3rd party plugins.
Thanks for that info (added to your support case).

Either Pro Tools quits so I can send in crash report to you guys or SWOD forever.
It happen on all edit operations.. audio, midi, clipgain if pro tools wanna save at the same time. It's getting worse as bigger the ptx file is. longer save time? If i'm just mixing It's pretty stable.

I'm on 10.9.5

If submitting a crash report please add your email address so we can link that to a support case.

Not saying my issues are solved but this is promising.

I went through and deleted a bunch of applications that were unaudio related. Some imaging software, hard drive tools etc.

Then i uninstalled all my plugins 3rd party. I installed one by one back in and so far not a single cpu spike or crash.

Now i dont want to jynx myself and I will continue to test it. I updated a couple as well.

Im keeping my fingers crossed. It seems to be running well right now.

Back to 12.4 for me as well, many many crashes .5, odd autosave behaviour (maybe linked to opening pre 12.5 sessions and working on them again in .5?) couldn't reopen any of today's saved sessions or autosaves. Noticed Melodyne 4 had populated my session backup folder with it's folders - why?. Sample and tick based tracks lost position when trying to reimport into a virgin session to recover any progress we made pre crashes today.

Again as per my other threads, more pointing towards VI usage as a familiar trigger. The usual permission repairs/pref clears/disk verifications did nothing today on this session in terms of stability or reopening.

(on an aside , really who has time to go through the whole 3rd party removal, listing of plugs , new user accounts blah de blah when we're workers and every new update seems to put us one step forward and 2 steps back)

12.4 worked for me when reinstalled , unistalled old PT , pref clear etc and last 3 hours of session seemed ok. On HDX so the noise blast thing not a issue unlike my other rig for 12.4 . 10.9.5 for all this

Cannot remember a time when i've had to apologise to client and reinstall a previous version on their time to get back some earlier track version up and running again. Ordered a new SSD for tomorrow and my days off this weekend will be for yet another (another!) fresh install from ground up to see if I can get back on track. SSD is just over price of my forthcoming first asset/subscription renewal for my legacy 12 update so think that's a goner.

sad days..

Well, I've finally tracked down the source of my AAE Error 6 crashes. If I remove both Waveshells (9.6 & 9.7) Pro Tools *seems* to be OK. Only reason I decided to track it down was that I'd even started getting the Error 6 in 12.4.

I say *seems* as I haven't had real chance to run it for an extended session, but the current project I'm working on always threw up the error 6 after 15-20 secs of playback without fail. Remove both Waveshells & its been looping for a good 30 mins without a problem (12.4).

I'll put a ticket into Waves but thought I'd share it here too. I don't really want to risk forking out 250 bucks for a new WUP (it ran out in November) without knowing whether it will or won't fix the problem as I'm not sure if they're evn past 9.6/9.7(soundgrid) yet.
