Using MBox2 just as preamp
Hi,
I'd like to know if the following scenario is possible/feasible: I have an MBox2. The bass player in my band has a little hard-disk portable media player which records 16-bit at 44.1 Khz, via a small line-in jack input. I also have an Ipod USB power adapter (which plugs into the wall and has a USB slot). Would it be possible for me to power the MBox2 via the USB power adapter, and run a cable from the MBox's output to the line-in on the media player, thus avoiding the need to take a laptop to rehearsal? Or does the MBox2 absolutely need the computer to operate, even as a preamp? cheers, Ian |

Re: Using MBox2 just as preamp
seems like from the lack of responses, that you ought to just hook it up and try it. My guess is that it probably won't work though.

Re: Using MBox2 just as preamp
Yeah, I was leaning towards experimenting with it myself. I might contact Digi just to confirm that no damage should result from such an experiment (and they may be able to answer my question anyway). But yeah, Murphy's Law and all, I wouldn't be betting against you.
