Default Couple of tips for PT9

Maybe some of you already know that...
Once Protools is launched and opened...you can REMOVE the iLok which makes an available USB Port. Protools won't quit.

Also I've found a great app on the iPhone App Store called AirPhones. It basically turns your iPhone into a "wireless soundcard receiver". It appears in the Playback Engine > Device.

With the proper connections you can turn any amplified Stereo into monitors, or you can use it to get a wireless headphone for your protools.
I've read you can even set the software to use it without WIFI network (directly from the computer to the iPhone). But I can't tell if it works with PC.

Hope it will help

Yes, but if you then try and instantiate any plug-ins that require iLok authorization, you'll have to insert it again, so might as well leave it plugged in unless you never use any plug-ins.

Not true.

Pro Tools will periodically do an authorization check, particularly if you switch sessions. It's not like how most plugins are fine if you pull the iLok. There's no point freeing up the port, because you're going to have to swap it back again anyway.

Airphones is very good to know about. Thanks. That will come it handy in several ways I can think of.
[EDIT:] Oh, shoot. XP/Vista x32 only.

Yep...
Didn't know PT would make periodic checks...Good to know thanx.
I didn't think about iLok authorized plugins but I thought the checking was made only once during PT start up (when it lists all dpms...)...and as I don't have any plugins of that sort (only digirack)...
Tough...!
At least my second tip is more relevant...

More than checks for the iLok.... mine told me it was gong to automatically save the session and close it. Even after I put the iLok back in, it still saved & closed!
